Biomaterials
We are relaunching Fabrica X’s signature Biomaterials Exhibition this summer at our AIRSIDE store. Following the successful debut in 2023, this revamped exhibition will run for a limited three-month period, aiming to accelerate the development and promotion of biomaterials while inspiring a transformative shift in public awareness and attitudes toward sustainable materials.
The exhibition was curated in partnership with Worksheet Studio, a local company recognised for converting community fibrous waste into valuable resources, such as mobile installations, and promoting inclusivity through the employment of individuals with disabilities. The mobility of this exhibition enables it to be effortlessly showcased in various corporate spaces interested in sustainable curation.
Most consumer goods in stores are made from synthetic fibers derived from fossil fuel, a worrying issue contributing to more greenhouse gas emissions and environmental degradation. Every second, an estimated one rubbish truck of textile waste ends up in landfills or incinerated yearly, contributing to releasing greenhouse gas emissions as they decompose.
'Biomaterials' are a promising solution for the future to accelerate sustainable innovations in the material space. Scientists and industry are collaborating to develop alternatives such as 100% biodegradable material from fruit waste to shift our value chain towards circularity.
